The NSE started its operation in 1994. In terms of yearly equity trading turnover, the World Federation of Exchanges is recognized as the largest stock exchange in India. The National Stock Exchange is open for trading from 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM (normal session) on weekdays and remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Apart from weekends, certain national holidays with cultural and religious significance are also considered NSE trading holidays. Out of the 365 days in a year, there are many holidays in India. But the stock market of India only has a few of these. Barring Saturdays and Sundays, all the other days of the week are considered to be business days in the stock market. From Monday to Friday of every week, trading and investing take place in the stock market. That is unless there are any trading holidays that have been announced in advance by the exchange. In India, the NSE and the BSE publish a list of trading holidays every year. For the year 2022, they have also done the same. Let us have a look at them.
